Rado True Square Thinline x Tan Jianci: A 320-Piece Edition Inspired by Lake Lungern

Swiss watchmaker Rado presented the True Square Thinline x Tan Jianci Limited Edition, restricted to 320 pieces, in a press release dated 20 October 2026. Developed with Chinese actor and singer Tan Jianci, Rado's global brand ambassador since January 2025, the new version combines a 5 mm profile, white high-tech ceramic and a turquoise mother-of-pearl dial. Rado traces the dial colour to a visit to Lake Lungern in Switzerland.
A dial colour traced to Lake Lungern
During a trip through Switzerland, Tan Jianci visited Lake Lungern, where the water's changing green and turquoise tones became the starting point for the project. His itinerary also included Rado's high-tech ceramic laboratory. That stop introduced the manufacturing process behind the material which would eventually form the case and bracelet.
According to Rado, the design was developed in discussions involving Tan, chief executive Adrian Bosshard, designers and product specialists. The group considered different approaches before settling on the existing True Square Thinline silhouette, with its rounded corners and shallow case. The dial colour was then refined separately. The result is not a miniature picture of the lake, but a mother-of-pearl surface intended to evoke its shifting light.
White ceramic frames the turquoise dial
The contrast is central to this release: the white ceramic provides a continuous setting around a green-turquoise dial, while small yellow accents appear on the hands and the Rado logo. Those details give the composition a third colour without changing the familiar outline of the Thinline family.
The watch uses Rado's calibre R420 quartz movement. This is a design-led collaboration rather than the introduction of a new mechanical calibre. Earlier True Square Thinline models, described by Rado in August 2024, already combined the R420 with a 5.0 mm ceramic case. Here, the development is concentrated in the dial, the colour relationships and the markers of the partnership.
Three messages on the case back and clasp
Rado has kept the most explicit references to Tan Jianci away from the dial. The case back and clasp carry short inscriptions, allowing the front of the watch to remain focused on the material and colour. The brand specifies the following edition details:
- Case back: "COCREATED BY JCT", accompanied by a yellow accent.
- Edition marking: "ONE OF 320" on each watch's case back.
- Clasp: "KEEP SHINING", a message associated with the collaboration.
