The Australia researcher`s watch will be sold at auction
On November 25, at the Bonhams auction in Sydney will be sold the watch, donated by the Royal Geographical Society to John McDowell Stewart in 1859 for the study of the central Australia deserts.

The Scot McDowell Stuart committed expedition in the 1850`s, and in 1861 he crossed Australia, going from Adelaide to the Indian Ocean and back.

The pocket watch, made by James Brock, has a round case with a diameter of 4.5 cm of gold with the London stamp of 1857. The enamel dial is marked by black Roman numerals, central hands to indicate the hours and minutes, as well as an additional dial with the second`s hand at the 6 o`clock position.
The preliminary price is 25 000 - 35 000 pounds.
