Richemont Group won a lawsuit filed in August 2012 against the numerous online sites that sell counterfeit of the brands belonging to the Richemont. The Richemont Group includes such companies as A. Lange & Söhne, Alfred Dunhill, Baume et Mercier, Cartier, IWC Schaffhausen, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Roger Dubuis, Montblanc, Officine Panerai, Piaget, Vacheron Constantin, Van Cleef & Arpels.

At the trial, the plaintiffs were the companies Alfred Dunhill, Roger Dubuis, Officine Panerai, Lange Uhren (A. Lange) and Cartier. Defendants were the owners of many Internet sites.
According to the Haute Horlogerie Foundation around the world sold about 40 million fake watches, and the number of annually commercially sold original units was sold around 26 million.
