Swatch Group has published its annual report for 2011
Watch holding company Swatch Group has published the full version of his report for 2011. And judging by all submitted data in it, the group came to an end of the year with the most brilliant results.
For the first time in the history of the watch holding Swatch Group the gross sales volume passed the threshold of 7 billion Swiss francs, ultimately amounting to 7143 million Swiss francs. As a result, the gross sales for 2011 increased compared to the previous year by 21%.
Operating profit of Swatch Group has amounted to 1 614 million Swiss francs. And it is 12% more than in 2010. Operating margin is, for the entire unfavorable situation with the exchange rate and price hikes of raw materials has increased from 23.5% to 23.9% - a little bit, but it is still increasing.
Net income from sales of Swatch Group watches reached 1276 million Swiss francs, an increase of 18% compared to revenues in the previous year.
For the first time the amount of capital of the watch holding was over 8 billion Swiss francs. And as in the 2011 Swatch Group has hired to work more than 2800 people. Today, there are working in the holding of about 28 000 people. Swatch Group is the largest producer of watches in the whole world (more than 25% of global sales).
The history of this large holding company started in 1930 when the two manufacturers of watches (Omega and Tissot) merged under the name Societe suisse pour l'industrie horlogere. In 1983 the Longines and Rado joined o it, and then the vast majority of independent producers. In 1998, the holding was renamed the Swatch Group, in which has already entered the oldest (since 1793) Swiss manufacturer of watch movements ETA.
