In anticipation of BaselWorld 2012: Oktopus II — Double Date by LINDE WERDELIN
The watch company LINDE WERDELIN, known for its watches with exceptional quality and interesting design, will present its another watch creation for extreme diving and winter sports - Oktopus II - Double Date at BaselWorld 2012.
The watch Oktopus II is a technological and ideological achievement of the company LINDE WERDELIN, which took a strong position in the segment of quality and precision instruments for diving. "After the completion of development and testing Reef (first dive computer, necessary for the protection and the search direction) in 2012, we have the opportunity to revise our interpretation of diving watches, and we started the reconstruction of Oktopus”, - says Jorn Werdelin.
Oktopus II - Double Date is an innovative case with design of the five parts, which ensures complete water resistance and excellent protection from the corrosive effects of seawater. The watch case Oktopus II - Double Date with diameter of 44 mm x 46 mm is equipped with a central mechanism camera. Four parts of the case have been assembled using 16 screws: the first 8 screws fixed bezel with a camera, while the remaining eight have consolidated the back cover. The camera, in which concluded a mechanism, designed for maximum protection mechanism against ingress of water. Four parts of the case at position 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock are mounted separately from the camera and the mechanism used to secure the strap, as well as to keep the merged tools. The source of inspiration for the design of this case served a sealed chamber that is used to simulate a dive, which was used for testing Oktopus II and the Reef. All screws include laminated elastic discs to seal and strengthen the constructer. The entire surface of the case is polished to a satin surface to reflect light and shadow. Massive crown at 3 o'clock position is decorated with engraving of octopus. The case back is also decorated with an octopus by the skillful hands Morten Linde. The first three series Oktopus II are presented in the version of titanium, gold and ceramics for corrosion protection. "To ensure this, we chose the anti-corrosion materials such as gold, titanium and ceramics, the latter is used in our watches first time," - Morten Linde, “creative force” of the company LINDE WERDELIN.
Dial of the model Oktopus II consists of two levels. The upper level is literally carved through the stencil art, graffiti-inspired art. The company’s logo LINDE WERDELIN and hour indexes 3, 6 and 9, as well as the wheel of "big date" are covered with fluorescent coating. Design of the dial clearly delineates the octopus image on it. The upper dial is in the style of Cote de Genève, which gives the dial surface of the water ripple effect. Two wheels at position 11 and the 1 o’clock indicate the calendar complication. The hands are made of stainless steel polished to a satin surface. Oktopus II - Double Date is equipped with an automatic three-hands movement with big date complication caliber 14 580 with 28 rubies, created in collaboration with Dubois Depraz. Power reserve is 40 hours - 44 hours, and the oscillation frequency of the balance is 28.800 pc / hour (4Hz). Strap is made from waterproof rubber. Water resistance of the model is up to 300 meters.
Recommended retail price of Oktopus II - Double Date in version of titanium and ceramics is 8800 CHF (88 copies), a version of titanium with DLC and ceramic dial with yellow elements - 9400 CHF (88 copies), a version of pink gold and titanium - 18500 CHF (88 copies).
