Of course, the first thing that catches your eye when looking at Tonda 1950 Special Edition - is a lattice. It reminds watches of military time, the glass is protected by the metal bars, but if you look closely, it is not a defense, but the structure of the skeletonized dial under the golden hand. The hour and minute hands are applied with white luminous compound. The second hands are put on the small white dial in the direction of 6 o’clock. Shutters, in which as if the watch dial is turned, are complemented by a pattern of concentric circles, giving the dial extra depth and volume.

The watch case of Tonda 1950 Special Edition, made of titanium, has a diameter of 39 mm and a thickness of 8 mm. Lugs for the strap mounting has a special form, slightly rounded the watchcase. Inside Tonda 1950 Special Edition is installed an automatic PF701, which has a 42-hour watch case. The micro-rotor of the mechanism is made of platinum, and the mechanism itself is decorated beautifully with Cotes de Geneva pattern, which can be seen through the original skeletonized dial.

By the way, 1950 in the model name - this is the year of Parmigiani Fleurier founder’s birth. Michelle Parmigiani was born Kuva, Switzerland. Since childhood, he spent much time with watchmaker, and then engaged in the restoration of the old watches. So the issue of new Tonda 1950 Special Edition, which dial reminds the antiques of wartime, it echoes the personality of Parmigiani. It is thanks to the restoration that Michelle was introduced to the origins of watchmaking and in 1975 opened his own company - Rarmigiani Mesure et Art du Temps SA (PMAT), which specializes in the restoration of watches. As a watch manufacturer Parmigiani Fleurier became only in 1996.
