An Increasing export of Swiss watches to Russia

The Swiss watch industry association has been published the official statistics of exports for the time in August 2011. So, during the last month from Switzerland it has been exported 2.1 million watches. In correspondence to the same month in the last year, the export volumes of watches increased by 16%.
In August, it was imported to the Russian Federation for 38% more Swiss watches than in the past year. And in comparison with 2009 the growth of watch exports is 110%. So the luxury Swiss watches have become increasingly popular in Russia. And not just any Swiss watch, but in the range of 500-3000 francs. Exports of watches in this category, it registered an increase of more than 30%. In the low-price segment up to 500 francs, the growth is almost negligible.
The watch models in steel and gold (the number had increased to 50%) are in the highest demand. At the same time, the platinum and silver watch, by contrast, lost in exports approximately 20%.
However, despite the success of Russia in the watch import, the main leader of growth is China, which showed an increase by as much as 44.3%. At the same time, watch exports to Germany increased by 10% and to France did fall by 6.1%.
