In November 9 the famous watch Geneva Hallmark celebrates its 125th anniversary. This prestigious distinction was first raised on the watch mechanism in 1886. It was then that Hallmark of Geneva, decorating the first few hours, at the request of the watchmaker’s association was introduced by the Council of the Republic and Canton of Geneva.
Why November of 1886? In November on the basis of the Geneva watch-making school, nowadays the famous organization of voluntary watch control was established. For usage Geneva Hallmark on its own watch movement it was necessary for manufacturer to provide information about the watch assembly, as well as the company headquarters location in the canton of Geneva.
Only in October 2009 the honor of issue Hallmark of Geneva was transferred by the school of watchmakers to the fund of the Geneva watchmaking laboratories and Microengineering called Timelab.
