Time flowing in weightlessness

When you first look at concept watch C1 QuantumGravity by Concord just do not understand how this watch is designed to show the time. This model completely breaks down stereotypes about timepieces and standard views and itself dictates its own standards and parameters. The space has become the main material for the creation of this timepiece, which is the embodiment of boundless flight of the mind. When you open the mystery out of this unique creation it became understandable: C1 QuantumGravity is a tourbillon on suspension with two axes, the unusual power reserve with a vertical and lateral second hand! Yes, this timepiece is suggestive and it makes to rethink of established norms.
It took more than five months of hard and painstaking work of talented professional to create C1 QuantumGravity. The idea of creating a "weightless" watch dates back to 2008 and only in 2009 brought into life in the form of C1 QuantumGravity, was presented at the International exhibition fair BaselWorld.
Development of the design was entrusted Studio Bellon, and implementation of the most unusual project - BNB Concept. The fruit of their joint work has become a wrist watch C1 QuantumGravity, which became a kind of experimental work, the embodiment of bold ideas and incessant search of perfection. Inspiration for C1 QuantumGravity has become the space freed from the shackles. The unusual pointer of move is represented in form of a cylindrical piston, in which the green fluorescent liquid of nanoparticles makes recurrent - progressive movements (up - down) in a glass flask. This "cardiogram" of watch heart is located at positions 12 and 13 o’clock. From a mechanical point of view, this device operates as follows: power reserve, which is perpendicular to the caliber, makes moves up and down on its base, indicating the remaining power reserve of the maximum level equal to three days.
Graduated scale, based on its circumference correlates with level indicators, fixed on the inner surface of the watch. Tourbillon on two axles is floating in weightlessness, thanks to a suspension bridge, which is held in a robust condition by the cable with thickness 0.2mm. Tourbillon’s carriage makes its rotation in different directions on the two axes, of which the main is vertical. The mechanism of suspension bridges is located on the elastomer system that provides tension and compensates for stretching.
A simple function of time display has also found an unusual embodiment. Multidimensional structure is conveniently located under the transparent hour and minute dials with fluorescent orange markings. Watch dial on off-center position at 3 hours and 30 o’clock, is like the saucer suspended from a fragile glass, covered by a notch with the mechanism. The feeling of weightlessness is enhanced by pointer mechanism with height 6.5 mm.
The crown is skillfully hidden and appears only when you click a button, and it is a pretty impressive element of design. Case with diameter 48.5 mm is made of titanium with inlays of white gold and it took 400 hours of hard work to create it. The case is equipped with 5 sapphire crystals that create the effect of the tank and allow you to see the beauty of the internal mechanism. C1 QuantumGravity watch is quite comfortable to wear: rubber strap without ears fastened by 4 screws, providing an optimum combination of the wrist. The case back, associated with the hatch lock of chamber is covered with sapphire crystal, through which one can see the contours of the skeletonized bridges with right angles, wheel system that supplies energy to the tourbillon carriage, and system of cables configuration. The combination of different finishes highlights the original design, solid and at the same time futuristic: black aluminum platinum, which contrasts with the aluminum bridges of anthracite color, stones superimposed over the screws of polished steel. In this finishing is embodied the philosophy of a new watch, made of high-tech materials, glass, space and colored fluorescent elements. 3 - day power reserve is provided by a hand-winding mechanism of caliber Concord C104 with 42 rubies and with oscillation frequency of balance 21.600 pc/h.
