Seiko 5 Sports SKX GMT HDB016: A Maroon US Limited Edition for $525

Seiko has released the 5 Sports SKX GMT US Limited Edition, reference HDB016, at $525. The watch keeps the familiar 42.5 mm SKX-style case and automatic GMT movement of the series, but changes the colours: a deep maroon sunray dial, a gold-toned GMT hand and a 24-hour bezel split between red and dark brown. Online, the colour scheme has already earned it the nickname "Dr Pepper".
Colours that set it apart
The maroon dial is finished with a sunray pattern, so it changes from dark red to almost brown depending on the light. A golden 24-hour chapter ring on the dial edge matches the gold GMT hand. The hands and markers are filled with Seiko's LumiBrite luminous material, and the dial includes a date window.
The bidirectional bezel carries a 24-hour scale divided into red and dark brown halves, which also helps to separate day and night hours in the second time zone.
Specifications
Inside is Seiko's automatic calibre 4R34 with 24 jewels, a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and a power reserve of about 41 hours. It can also be wound by hand, the seconds hand stops for precise setting, and the 24-hour hand is set independently.
