Franck Muller Unveils 108-Piece Vanguard Ram Lalla for India

Franck Muller has introduced the Vanguard Ram Lalla Limited Edition in India, working with authorised retail partner Kapoor Watch Co. The watch places a three-dimensional representation of Lord Ram in his childhood form at the centre of the dial. The edition comprises 108 individually numbered pieces, a number with spiritual significance in Hindu tradition.
Relief artwork inside the Vanguard case
The watch takes its name from Ram Lalla, the child form of Lord Ram associated with the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Rather than printing the subject directly on a flat dial, Franck Muller uses a raised appliqué with intricate laser processing. According to the manufacture, each dial requires approximately 30 hours of that work. The relief is subsequently polished and finished to create changes in depth and texture across the figure.
The case is cut from a solid block of 18-carat rose gold and measures 41 × 49.95 mm. Franck Muller used the curved Vanguard shape as the framework for the edition. The watch's surfaces are curved along both their length and width, while the dial composition follows the case's distinctive outline. Two colour-matched inserts on the case sides continue the visual connection between the metal and strap.
Swiss automatic movement
The watch is powered by a Swiss automatic mechanical movement and displays hours, minutes and seconds. Its distinguishing feature is therefore not a calendar or chronograph complication, but the elaborate dial construction and the gold case that frames it.
Strap construction and Indian launch
The strap combines rubber with a grape-based vegan-leather material. Two concealed screws secure it to the case instead of conventional spring bars, helping the attachment follow the Vanguard's curved form. Finishing details include stitched edges and shaped inserts matching the case sides.
Franck Muller presented the watch at its Delhi boutique together with Kapoor Watch Co. Guests at the unveiling included sitarist and composer Rishab Rikhiram Sharma. The launch connects the Geneva-based manufacture's curved-case design with a subject chosen specifically for the Indian market.
