BaselWorld 2012: VARIOCURVE Watch by NORD ZEITMASCHINE
The Swiss watch company NORD ZEITMASCHINE, founded by Daniel Nebel, at the world exhibition BaselWorld 2012 has presented its delightful watch - VARIOCURVE.
The young watchmaker Daniel Nebel has always worked on exclusive models, analogues of which do not exist in the world. Created by him watches differ with their original design performance and complexity.
VARIOCURVE - one of the most complex models, which was developed by the young watchmaker. It features not only complicated functions, but also complex designs. The creation of the watch is associated with several studies that have been discovered by the master for himself. After a series of studies, Daniel came to the conclusion that the watch with central hands, peripheral pointers, and retrograde displays has a rotating element, in this case, hands, or disks are rotating round a fixed axis. Moreover, the rotation is carried out in a complete revolution, and in most cases - to 120 degrees.
Daniel decided to use another form of indication for his watch, which would be carried out without a fixed center pointer. He wanted to remake the levers and their systems in order to achieve the desired result. But the way to achieve such a result would have been impossible, in fact, that part of the dial, which is used to indicate hours would be too small. After extensive research, Daniel Nebel solved this problem: he has created two unusual "cam", rotating in opposite directions. These "cams" are arranged so that the maximum approximation occurs within an hour, and the maximum distance - within one minute. An exclusive caliber, designed by Nebel, provides the minute hand movement at different speeds for 60 minutes, and as the watch has a trajectory indication with different curves, it has received its name - VARIOCURVE.
The round case of the novelty in diameter of 43.6 mm and 15.8 mm thick is made of stainless steel. The case is equipped with a steel bezel, attached to the case 7 by screws. The VARIOCURVE watch is presented in three versions – with mechanical parts coating:
V1 - white rhodium and black gold,
V2 - white rhodium and rose gold
V3 - white rhodium and yellow gold.
All versions are released in a limited edition - numbered to 97 instances.
The watch dial is partially skeletonized, equipped with Arabic numerals, located at the top, and a large minute hand, located at the 6 o’clock position. The minute hand is made of a material ARCAP. The highlight of this model is just this hand with an impressive movement at different speeds.
The dial is protected by a curved sapphire crystal. The case back of the watch is closed by flat sapphire crystal, which allows observing the work of an automatic mechanism NORD N2 at 25 jewels and 5 integrated micro-ball bearings, the frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, power reserve of 42 hours. The caliber, collected on the basis of the Swiss ETA 2824 mechanism, has features of hours (at the 8 o’clock position), minutes, date (the aperture is set at the 4 o’clock position).
The original VARIOCURVE watch is complemented by a calfskin strap.
NORD ZEITMASCHINE watch company was founded by Daniel Nebel who was born in 1971 in the North of Switzerland in a small town at the foot of a hill Youra that is why his company was named as NORD. As for the word ZEITMASCHINE, it can be explained in following way, as it is commonly known, there are many variants and ways of watchmaking. So Daniel decided to make watches using different machines because he himself is a mechanist.
Daniel started his carer as a technician and the word ZEITMASCHINE was chosen by him as a continuation of the first part of the brand's name. Having graduate from University, Daniel started to produce different kinds of watchmaking machines (1988-1992).
At the same time in 1995 he started to learn horology. The ...
