The Swiss company Magellan, specializing in the production of watches in luxe class, known for its innovative technologies, assembly and manufacturing, which differ from the accepted industry standards. The company’s collection is unique both in terms of mechanics and design.
The landmark collection "1521" in 2012 is supplemented with a new model Magelluna, which is presented at GTE. The novelty is made of the preservation the structural features of the model "1521" - a hemispherical dial, curved central hands, a convex sapphire crystal. The innovative case design is developed by Everhard Vissers, a founder of Magellan and a passionate admirer of mechanical watches. A usual shape of the case is inspired by the form of the hemispherical ship's compass.
Design concept of the "1521" collection is associated with the Age of Discoveries (in 1521 the famous expedition explorer Ferdinand Magellan made the most important geographical discovery of the era).
For the creation of the new model the masters are inspired by the moon - a celestial body, surrounded by a mystical aura.
At all times and in all cultures about the moon are composed myths and legends, singing her magic and mystery. The beauty of a mysterious celestial body, then rising, and then decreasing, still fascinates people, becoming a source of inspiration for an unprecedented project. It is to such "an unprecedented project," is the novelty of Magellan, a hemispherical dial of which resembles a lunar crust. On the dial treated with galvanic way, realistically reproduces all features of the relief of the lunar surface, up to the craters produced in collisions with meteorites. Roman numerals, located on the outer circumference of the hemispherical dial, evoke associations with the lunar halo.
The watch case is made of stainless steel with PVD / CVD-coatings; the "lunar" dial is protected by a convex sapphire crystal.
The model is assembled on the basis of an automatic mechanism ETA 2892. The crown, setting in motion and correcting time, is placed under a sapphire crystal and is wound from below.
The watch comes with a durable rubber strap.
