Coco Chanel (the full name of Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel) was a leading French designer. Coco’s influence on high fashion is so great that she has been included in a list of the most influential people of the twentieth century.
Gabriel was born in Saumur on August 19 in 1883, although she claimed that in 1893. After the death of his mother her father left, leaving twelve years old Gabriel with four brothers and sisters under the care of relatives. Then they appeared in the shelter. At 18, Gabriel took a job in a clothing store as a saleswoman, and in her free time she was singing in a cabaret.
Her favorite songs were “Ko Ko Ri Ko” and “Qui qua vu Coco”, and for which she was given the name Coco. Gabrielle Chanel did not succeed as a singer, but she was noticed and by the officer Etienne Balzan, who was fascinated. She came to live with him in Paris. But soon Gabriel went to an English industrialist Arthur Capel, who believed in the talent of Gabriel and bought her a large clothing store.
Her first store Gabriel opened in Paris in 1910, where she sold hats. A year later Fashion House was moved to the street Cambon 31, in front of the hotel "Ritz". It is there to this day.
Perfume "Chanel number 5" appeared in time of the novel of Coco Chanel with Grand Prince Dmitry Romanov. From the 20 mixes of floral scents, offered by a perfumer, with whom Coco introduced thanks to the Grand Duke, Coco chose a tube under the number 5, added the flavor of lily of the valley and named perfume "Chanel number 5."
With a light hand of Chanel appeared a "little black dress", which by the popular magazine “Vogue” was equated to the car “Ford”. She popularized the tweed suit, women's pants, two-tone shoes, a bag with a strap over the shoulder.
Also significant for the brand Chanel has become two colors - black and white. Their combination has become the trademark of the brand Chanel. Black-and-white palette is used in the manufacture of Chanel watches.
Coco Chanel has left a legacy not only a fashion empire - clothing, accessories (watches), perfume, but also a particular lifestyle. |
