Of course, one can say that Anonimo is a young company, because the brand was created only in 1997, but it would be only “de jure”. Those who create watches under this brand can’t be called inexperienced specialists - Anonimo united the best Florentine craftsmen who had worked with Panerai earlier until its movement to Switzerland. One of these talents is unforgettable Dino Zei. Let’s study his biography, as Anonino gave Dino Zei line the place of honor.
Dino Zei was born in Viterbo in 1931. He graduated from the Naval Academy and Industrial Engineering at the University of Pisa. At the age of 38 he became Director of the Centre of Studies of the Navy Commandos and Divers Headquarters. And who has the closest relations with the Italian Navy and Divers in the watch industry?
In 1972 Dino Zei took up the management of Guido Panerai e Figlio, engaged in important and extremely delicate work for the Special Units of the Navy. In fact he was the first man who didn’t belong to the Panerai Dynasty but ran the family company, as in 1972 he accepted the helm of state from Giuseppe Panerai.
Dino Zei gave Guido Panerai e Figlio the name Officine Panerai, famous today, the same year he took the position of director. Dino ran the company until 1997, when Panerai was purchased by RICHEMONT.
 During these 25 years Dino played in the watch business well. The first Panerai watches came into the market in his presence. Later Dino Zei wrote the book “Panerai in Florence”, describing years of his work in the company and last years of his being in Florence. Dino himself stayed in the homeland and currently collaborate with Anonimo, which united the talented masters, also stayed in the homeland after Panerai moved to Swtzerland.
After leaving Officine Panerai Dino received a lot of offers to develop his own watch brand Dino Zei. But why should he reinvent the wheel if he could join the watch company Anonino, founded by his friend – Federico Massacesi, in Florence? So, Dino decided to remain the Florentine tradition of watch making. Dino Zei experience provided Anonimo the possibility to open new bounds in scientific watch researches. The Anonimo wrist watches are functional chronometers for real men. They are in a rather classical style and equipped only with necessary, readable functions, large crown that doesn’t require the ballerina’s fingers. In a word, the Anonimo watches are created in the Florentine style – retained and most functional. It’s the best choice for those who reasonably appreciate the value for money and wouldn’t overpay an ornate design and a little logo of famous brand.
The Dino Zei collection was born in 2005 and is a kind of gratitude of Anonimo to a talented engineer for effective cooperation. The line moto says  “The Master returns”. However, to keep the brand “anonymous” philosophy, which says that the Anonimo watches are created for their owner, but not for the creators’ vanity, Dino Zei refused to engrave his portrait on the watches, named after him. Instead of it, the Dino Zei watches have interesting back cases with engraved diving-suit, through the transparent illuminator of which you can see a part of watch mechanism. It is an original Dino Zei brand feature and the only playful trait in strict appearance of this line watches.
Dino Zei continues working with Anonino, having focused on the development of the company scientific team and new researches for the Dino Zei collection.
