Louis Erard and Vianney Halter Reveal Futur Antérieur with Two Movements

Louis Erard and independent watchmaker Vianney Halter have unveiled the Futur Antérieur, a watch built around an unusual division of labour: one automatic movement drives the hours and minutes, while a second, separate automatic movement drives the seconds. The two dials sit beside each other in an asymmetrical steel case. Silver and Gold versions are each limited to 178 numbered pieces.
Two independent movements, not two time zones
The Futur Antérieur uses two Sellita SW100 automatic calibres. Both operate at 28,800 vibrations per hour, contain 25 jewels and have a typical power reserve of 42 hours, with 38 hours specified as the minimum. The movement dedicated to seconds drives the hand on one dial; the other drives the hour and minute hands on its neighbouring dial.
The configuration is different from a dual-time display. The watch does not use two dials to show different cities or time zones. Instead, it separates the normal components of one time display into independently powered mechanisms. Each movement has its own crown and automatic winding system. The arrangement makes the case's unusual outline a functional consequence of the movement architecture rather than a purely decorative gesture.
Steel case with two porthole-style bezels
The case measures 38 × 44 mm, with a thickness of 8.85 mm. Louis Erard specifies 67 components for the case assembly, which is finished with circular brushing, polished chamfers and vertically brushed sides. Two raised bezels are decorated with polished gilt rivets, while separate sapphire crystals cover the dials. Water resistance is rated at 5 bar, equivalent to 50 metres.
Vianney Halter's distinctive design is expressed through the riveted bezels, blued hands and screw-like crown details. The case back is solid rather than transparent and carries the limited-edition engraving. The Silver reference, 22243AA07.BOA05, combines silver-toned dials with a blue ostrich-leather strap. The Gold version, 22243AA01.BOA02, uses gold-toned dial details and a black ostrich-leather strap.
Edition sizes and prices
Louis Erard lists each individual watch at CHF 4,950 excluding tax. The brand has also prepared 78 two-watch sets at CHF 9,900 excluding tax. Both individual references carry numbered case backs and form part of a collaboration in which Louis Erard has previously explored independent watchmakers' visual languages through limited series.

The dials' mechanically independent functions provide the defining detail of the Futur Antérieur. Rather than introducing a new indication, the collaboration rethinks how the familiar hour, minute and second hands are physically arranged and powered inside one wristwatch.
