Sinn 140 A S Anniversary Celebrates 65 Years with a 300-Piece Chronograph

Sinn has introduced the 140 A S Anniversary to mark 65 years since the German watch company was founded. Announced in October 2026, the new 44 mm automatic chronograph is limited to 300 pieces. It combines the established 140 case shape with the Sinn SZ01 calibre and a black-coated 904L steel case. The model is identified by reference 140.050.
From a 1985 space mission to the anniversary edition
The 140 series has an unusual place in Sinn's history. During the Spacelab D1 mission in 1985, German physicist and astronaut Reinhard Furrer wore a Sinn 140 S equipped with the Lemania 5100 chronograph movement. The modern anniversary watch recalls that episode, but it does not use the same movement.
Instead, the new model is fitted with Sinn's SZ01 automatic chronograph calibre. Its principal feature is a central 60-minute chronograph indication alongside the central chronograph seconds hand. This differs from conventional chronographs that confine elapsed minutes to a small subdial. Sinn also applies luminous material to both central chronograph hands, allowing the elapsed-time indication to remain readable in low light.
The movement has 28 jewels, runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides approximately 46 hours of power reserve. Running seconds and the date are also displayed. A rotating internal timing ring is controlled by a crown near 10 o'clock.
Tegiment-treated steel and case protection
The 140 A S Anniversary uses a 44 mm case measuring 15.5 mm thick. Sinn specifies 904L stainless steel with its Tegiment hardening process and a black hard coating. The company also incorporates its Ar-Dehumidifying Technology, intended to manage moisture within the watch, and D3-System pushers and crowns.
Sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment protects the dial. The screwed caseback is made from treated steel. Water resistance is 10 bar, equivalent to 100 metres, and the case is also described as resistant to low pressure.

Bracelet and additional strap
The anniversary package includes a treated black steel bracelet with a fine-adjustment clasp and an additional leather strap combining black and yellow. The strap echoes the bright colour used on the chronograph hands. With both options provided, the watch can be worn in either a fully dark metallic configuration or the more contrasting presentation seen in the manufacturer's photography.
The historical connection and the choice of central elapsed-minute indication distinguish this version from an ordinary three-register chronograph. Its production limit also separates it from the continuously available models in Sinn's instrument-watch catalogue.
