The limited edition Patek Philippe Advanced Research Annual Calendar wrist watch model was introduced to high watchmaking art connoisseurs at 2005 BaselWorld watch and jewelery fair as the first “draft” watch series with silicone escapements. Only 100 pieces were produced and they were blown away instantly. The advantage of a silicone escapement is in its anti-magnetic features, it is extremely smooth and at the same time unbelievably durable, very light and not subject to corrosion. All these features point it out significantly against all the other materials, used before.
This men's wrist watch has very high functionality: it is equipped not only with central hour, minute and seconds hands, but also with a power reserve indicator and an annual calendar (date, day of the week, month, Moon phase indicator).
The model is enclosed in a round case with the diameter of 39 mm, made of 18-carat white gold. The watch's crown is made of 18-carat white gold as well. The case back is screwed down and has a transparent crystal aperture with the "Patek Philippe Advanced Research" engraving and a built-in loupe, placed over the escapement and enabling you to watch the innovative detail's operation at a closer distance. The model's water resistance is 30 metres (3 ATM). This timepiece is driven by the mechanical 315 S IRM QA LU Advanced Research caliber with automatic self-rewind and a silicone escapement, which doesn't need oiling. The caliber is assembled on 36 stones and possesses the Geneva Seal, its power reserve is about 48 hours, the working frequency is 21600 half-oscillations per hour. The movement's functions list includes: hours, minutes, seconds, annual calendar (date, day of the week, month, Moon phase indicator) and a power reserve indicator.
The dial of the Swiss wrist watch is silvered, with applied Arabic numeric indexes and “baton” style hour marks, an applied minute scale, executed in the “railway” style with luminescent dots and hour markers. The hands are executed of white gold in the shape of leaves and covered with luminescent coating. The month indicator is situated at the “3” position, the date aperture and the Moon phase indicator are placed at the “6 o'clock” position, the week day indicator is at the “9” position and the power reserve indicator – at the “12 o'clock” position.
The men's Swiss Patek Philippe Advanced Research Annual Calendar wrist watch is supplied on a black alligator leather strap with a folding clasp, made of white gold, matching the case of the model. |
