The Swiss watch company with Italian roots Officine Panerai continues gladdening military-style wrist watches connoisseurs, creating nem models of its legendary “Radiomir” series. This year the brand has produced a special limited edition of its new variant of the Radiomir 1940 model in a vintage round Panerai case, made of polished red gold (Ref. PAM00398) with the diameter of 47 mm.
Unlike the prototype and the variants, launched in production at the end of last century's 30-s, some historical models of the Radiomir series were created in the 1940-s. They are distinctive for their lugs, executed not in the form of steel wires, welded to the case, but cut of the same steel billet, as the entire case, resulting in more durable, firmer lugs. The new men's Panerai Radiomir 1940 Oro Rosso (Ref. PAM00398) wrist watch is presented in the same case with the classic 47-mm diameter and has some other distinctive features of the historical model: the protective crystal, made of plexiglas, a round cambered bezel, the personalized OP screw-down crown and the screw-down sapphire case back.
The Swiss Panerai Radiomir 1940 Oro Rosso (Ref. PAM00398) men's wrist watch is enclosed in a red gold case with polished finish and equipped with a black dial with luminescent Arabic “3”, “6” and “12” numerals, as well as the glowing hour markers. The additional small seconds subdial is situated at the “9 o'clock” position. The model's dial is protected with a plexiglas crystal, 3-mm-thick. The transparent case back, enabling you to watch the mechanical caliber's operation, is made of sapphire crystal. The watch is water resistant up to 30 metres deep (3 ATM).
The men's Panerai Radiomir 1940 Oro Rosso (Ref. PAM00398) wrist watch is driven by the exclusive manually wound Panerai OP XXVII caliber, assembled on 18 jewels. The movement's working frequency is 18000 half-oscillations per hour, the power reserve is 55 hours. The mechanical Panerai OP XXVII caliber is equipped with a “Glucydur” balance and a “KIF Parechoc” shock-resistance system. The list of the caliber's functions includes: hours, minutes, small seconds.
The Swiss Panerai Radiomir 1940 Oro Rosso (Ref. PAM00398) wrist watch is supplied on a brown natural leather strap with a large adjustable personalized Panerai buckle, made of polished red gold.
The Swiss Officine Panerai company fro this model's production uses 5NPt red gold, a special fusion with extra-high copper percentage (24,1%), which gives the unusual colour depth, and this fusion also contains a small quantity of platinum (0,4%), helping to avoid metal oxidization.
Interesting is the fact that the Panerai Radiomir 1940 model was produced also in a stainless steel case (Ref. PAM00399) and the brand has created 50 sets, consisting of Radiomir 1940 (Ref. PAM00399) and Radiomir 1940 Oro Rosso (Ref. PAM00398) watches with the same numbers (from 1 to 50) in an exclusive box. |
