| African primitive art is a culture inheritance of the whole continent, embracing not one historic epoch. It includes several region schools, differ from each other with traditions and esthetic. There are in different currents of primitive art something general – so called phenomenon of African human. Typical representatives of nation of this continent don't perceive themselves separately from nature. In art they recognize only real senses of color and form. Many artists inspired with primitive art. Nowadays auctions are bright with unique statues, masks, tissues, made by nations of Africa. As demand on objects of primitive art doesn't fall, Geneva manufacture Vacheron Constantin decided to please its fans with special model of wristwatch from collection Les Masques. This unique piece Masque Gabon (REF.86070/000G-9347), produced in 25 pieces. Its 40 mm case is made from white gold and equipped with black strap from leather. Masque Gabon is equipped with automatic winding function, letting the movement to continue the work during 40 hours. Case has water resistance is up to 30 meters. Movement of Masque Gabon is unique. Masters of Vacheron Constantin made for this watches of collection caliber 2460 G4. Masque Gabon doesn't have hands. In the dial made four windows, in which with the help of turning discs show minutes, hours, day of the week and date. In the center of the dial is situated the exact small copy of Gabon ritual mask nation Kvele. Its prototype never entered the collection of poet-dadaist Tristan Tzar. It was founded before the beginning of 30-s XX century. Original was made from half hard tree species of different colors with old patina. This mask pibibuze (“human”), entered the group from four images of living beings. Another three embodied animals – antelope, gorilla and elephant. Such masks in tribe Kvele used in religious rituals. As a rule, it was made as ward by family orders in which a boy was born. These masks don't have splits for eyes, and it can be think that dancers didn't wear it, and just put in a house, consecrated by cult. From real African mask masters of manufacture Vacheron Constantin made miniature mold, as the same as copying original. It was put on the sapphire crystal of the dial Masque Gabon. Finishing unusual image of watch with the help of special technology of spraying were enlayed white poems of French poet Michel Butor, dedicated to artifact: “I keep in my heart securely all possible phases of nightlights, and blurred the contours of my mouth, it is impossible to discern, but his eyes betray the depth of inner strength.
