| TAG Heuer is a Swiss watch company released a new model of watch Monaco Vintage Gulf (CW211A), which was devoted to a legendary automobile - Porsche 917.
Porsche 917 was made in Geneva in 1969 by Porsche.
This automobile became a legend and was considered to be the lightest one by this time. Because of its speed and thanks to experienced car-makers this automobile became the fastest one and won many competitions. Its racing career Porsche 917 started in 1969 when new racing class “homologated sport-cars” was opened.
In racing track could take part only automobiles with 5 liters engine volume and 800 kilos. First three racings were not successful for the automobiles because of some technical defects. The history of gains of the firs prizes started in August 1969, when Court Arens and Joe Ziffert at “Australian circle” speedway.
The engine of Porsche 917 is very unusual. The variants of its body design was unusual as well.
Engine volume was 12 liters supplied with air-cooling system. The body was made of plastics, aluminum and glass fiber. It was very light and fast as wind. The engineers of Porsche company constructed different kinds of car body for the model Porsche 917 in order to let it overcome successfully different obstacles in a trace. In the body, which back side was very short which provided fast movement and a very speedy acceleration at a track. For such racing as Interserie and CanAm was made a special body with opened top.
At a racing season of 1970 Porsche won 9 wins of 10 possible. In 1971 Porsche 917 became the winner 8 times of 10 possible.
