Roger Smith Presents Great Britain Timepiece

Silver medal winner of the British Institute of horology, the watchmaker Roger Smith last year became a member of the campaign Great Britain, designed to tell about the achievements of the UK around the world. The campaign is already deployed in 134 countries.

Smith, in order to demonstrate creative and innovative approach of the country, has developed the Great Britain watch, the creation of which took 10 months.

The master used for the case three platinum blanks, which are formed the first ring and then soldered together. The clasp is decorated with initials R.W. Smith, also made of platinum.

Consisting of 34 parts, the dial is made of silver. It forms an image of the flag UK. Using different patterns, the watchmaker produced and put on a manually dial engraving details.
The Great Britain model operates on the base of the manual winding mechanism with engraved name of the master, the words “GREAT Britain” designation and MMXIII (2013).

Bringing a respect for his teacher George Daniels, Smith used in the mechanism the improved Axial Escapement with one wheel while reducing the weight of the anchor wheel by 23%.

A special box of English oak with a picture of the Great Britain flag was made for the Great Britain watch.
