Al Noor Timepiece Premiere in Moscow

The watchmaker, a member of the Academy of Independent Watchmakers AHCI Bernhard Lederer and the owner of the Moscow club Raff House Rafael Papyan have presented the result of three years of development - a limited edition watch Al Noor (“Light”) with a tourbillon and rotating discs, bearing micro-images with quotations from Muslim holy book - the Quran.
The dial of the novelty is inserted into a 46.6 mm case of pink gold, decorated with calligraphy featuring the first four passages of the first verses of the Koran "Fatiha". The image is made in the technique of hot enamel grand feu. At the 7 o`clock position is placed the tourbillon carriage. The one-minute tourbillon window separates the beginning of a scene recorded on the perimeter of the dial, from its end.
The main feature of this model are two size 4x4 mm aperture located at the 12 o`clock position. They remind the date aperture. The micro images of the verses from the Koran written in Arabic script appear in it. Calligrapher passages gave symbolic images of animals. When the hour changes, one from two discs come in motion, which are located under the dial and the next fragment appears in the aperture. Total number of passages is ten, i.e. each disc carries five verses. For ease of reading, a magnifier comes with a watch, set in rose gold.

The unique novelty Al Noor is equipped with a system developed by Bernhard Lederer. This hand-wound caliber in addition to its primary function solves the function of energy storage, which is needed for instant switch of discs. Stockpiling is enough to switch to a single disc per hour. The barrels save the total range of the mechanism at a fairly high level - 100 hours.
The Al Noor watch is available in a box of natural black walnut. It is cube shaped that symbolizes their holy Kaaba. The package also includes a copy of the Koran, hand-crafted by old technology, a rosary and a magnifying glass.
The novelty will be released in quantity of 55 items. As noted by Rafael Papyan, the news about the release of the original watches has already sparked the interest of collectors from the Gulf countries.
Note that the Neuchâtel University professor, president of the Cultural Association of Muslims Neuchâtel Javel Mohamed Sheriff provided advice for the cultural project.
