Constructive mind of the company U-Boat creative designer Italo Fontana is always attracted with the forms and objects, characterized by a strong and timeless identity. A passion for vintage-style culture makes him to create in 2000 for the revival of the watch established by his grandfather in 1942 and intended to watch for the pilots of Italian Navy. The novelty "Chimera" U-51 Bronze, presented in 2012, is made entirely of bronze. To preserve the natural color of the material, the bronze is handled carefully by selected acids, but not covered with rhodium. Following the brand’s concept, the watch is first painted, then faded, and scratched by hand, giving them a "respectable" age. The case diameter is 46 mm. A bezel and back side of the watch for maximum strength are closed along the outside by tube. A large crown, set at the 9 o’clock position, is equipped with a special protection system. The buttons of the chronograph is screwed on the crown protecting system. The case from the front side has a curved sapphire crystal, and the back side of the case is covered with a flat sapphire crystal, which is attached by a double gasket.

The watch operates on the manufactory mechanism with chronograph function and date display, located at the 9 o’clock position. The caliber on the 25 jewels provides a 44-hour power reserve and has a balance frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. Height of the caliber is 7 mm. The functions of the mechanism are: hours, minutes, chronograph, small second’s hand at 3 o'clock position, 12-hour indicator at 12 o'clock position, 30-minute indicator at 6 o'clock position.
The novelty comes on the hand sewn calfskin strap, treated in accordance with traditional Tuscan artisan techniques used in the 1800's. A buckle of the strap is also made of bronze.
Water-resistant of "Chimera" U-51 Bronze watches is up to 100 meters.
