The history of the watch company Stuhrling Original started in the 1800-s when the talented Max Stuhrling, a protege of Louis Audemars, met with the history of the watchmaking, the knowledge of which was at an early stage of the development. During this period existed such famous watch factories such as Girard-Perregaux, Audemars Piguet, Perrelet, Patek Philippe, Breguet, Chopard and Breitling.
By the middle 19th century the watches became the widely-used attribute, as the result – the demand for these beautiful movements increased. The leadership position of the watch industry, which has long been firmly belonged to France and England, soon was slowly won over by Switzerland. The Swiss watches gradually became legendary because of their quality technical characteristics. Soon Stuhrling among the Swiss watchmakers became known as a “ghost watchmaker”, which produced the excellent and very precise movements for the most famous watch manufactories. Stuhrling died before his 50 - year anniversary.
Being a very talented man, Stuhrling kept away from luxury and big money. At the time, the watches cost much more than the salary of the average man, but despite this, Stuhrling created the excellent mechanical chronometers, which could be afforded by the majority. By the middle 20th century, the family Stuhrling started another businesses, but they never lost the love of their ancestor to the manufacture of the watches. In the 90-s, with the return to fashion an elegant mechanical watches, Max Stuhrling IV (the grandson of the founder), returned to the beloved work of his legendary ancestor - to the creation of the fine watches.
