Stepan Sarpaneva was born in 1970 in the family of Finnish watchmakers. Being a skilled jeweler, the father of Stepan, Pentti Sarpaneva, taught his son the jewel crafting and opened the little “secrets” of the watchmaking. Stepan Sarpaneva graduated from the Finnish watchmaking school and decided to expand his knowledge in the field of watchmaking in Switzerland, where he continued his master class at WOSTEP-e. From 1994 he began to work for such prestigious watch companies, such as Piaget, Parmigiani, Vianney Halter and Christophe Claret. For 10 years which he spent in Switzerland, Sarpaneva specialized in the design of difficult details which are used in the assembly of the watches.
Sarpaneva was obsessed for the watches. As a result of his irrepressible passion for watchmaking, in 2003 he launched his own brand in Helsinki. Sarpaneva makes the designs by himself and assembles every model in his studio. In 2009 was launched the model Sarpaneva Korona K3 Black Moon, it was awarded the prestigious “Red Dot” for Best for the best communication design of the luxury watches. The watch line is produced in the limited-edition of 20 models. Each watch is accompanied by a hand-bound book “Black is the Moon”. In the book there are quatrains and legends about the huntress – Lilith, who preyed during the new moon. The watches are equipped with a modified Soprod movement caliber A10, 28800 vibrations per hour. The movement is equipped with phases of the moon indicator, 42-hour power reserve. The case is made of the high-quality stainless steel or red or white gold. The case is 44 mm in diameter and equipped with the 1.65 mm thick sapphire crystal with anti-reflection coating. The open “skeleton” dial is coated with black diamonds and decorated with a picture of the black moon. The hands of the model, which indicate the hour, are made in the form of wheels. The leather strap is made in the different color variations.
The Supernova line shows the unrestrained and boundless imagination of its creator. It consists of 10 models. The hand-made case of the model is from hardened stainless steel. The case thickness is 40 mm in diameter. The top and the back of the case are equipped with sapphire crystal. The smoothly polished case is carved by unusual lines, which give it the brutal beauty. The dial and the hands are hand-made of the high-quality steel. The strap is made of alligator with stainless steel buckle.
