De Bethune company was founded in 2002. Its founders are watchmakers David Zanetta and Denis Flageollet, whose motto was: “Style. Creativity. Quality”.
The company was named after the French expert, who invented the movement regulator for pocket and long-case clocks.
The company's headquarters and its laboratory are located in L’Auberson.
De Bethune has produced an interesting wrist watch, distinctive for its design and the materials, used at its production:
the balance of titanium and platinum;
the triple anti-shock system with a titanium axle;
the drum with reduced fraction;
the case with “cushions” (for the watch's wearing comfort).
The experts also pinpoint the balance wheels of silicone and platinum. They are devices, made of the 2 metals alloy and compensating the balance spring's vibrations during temperature changes. The company has elaborated another device, that regulates the self-rewinding speed. The watch owner has an ability to choose one of the 3 self-rewinding speed modes: the sports one, the normal and the slow, depending on the hand movements' power and intensity. The speed is shown by a special indicator, situated on the case back or on the dial.
But the company's main novelty is the elaborated spherical moon phase dial. This indicator is made in the form of a platinum and burnished steel sphere, standing out of the main dial, when turned around its axis. The spherical moon phase indicator has become De Bethune brand's signature.
The company has produced the following collections: “DB 15 Perpetual Calendar”, “DBL”, “DB Digitale”, “DB21 Maxi Chrono”, “DB20”, “DB20 Beat Quantieme”, “DB22”, “DB24”. In 2008 the “DB24 Vetrois” watch line was presented in Basel.
De Bethune company has also produced the “DB21 Maxi Chrono” collection, that consists of one-button chronographs. Classic men's watches with diamonds are represented by the DBL collection. And DB Digitale are watches with digital time indication. They are also supplied with the function of displaying the star arch with the 3-dimensional moon phase indicator. The DBS watches with an 8-day power reserve are also notable, because they don't have dials and you can only see the open movement with the 3-dimensional moon phase indicator. It's notable, that the watches were created for the “Only Watch” charity auction in 2009.
DBS model's design is repeated by another model – the “DB28”, which enables its owner to watch the celestial body's position change with the help of the moon sphere, made of platinum and burnished steel. The unusual indicator's readings are so precise, that it can only make a mistake in 122 years. If you turn the case around, you'll be able to see the 6-day power reserve indicator.
We can't avoid the “Dream Watch One” model, that embodies Zanetta's and Flageollet's dreams. The watch is an architectural alloy of space, time and light. The palladium dial has dull, polished or burnished surfaces, that shine with different colours. You can see the play of light and shadows on the dial in correspondence with the principle of the hieroglyphs, created by the ancient Egyptians. The white gold case is supplied with the movable cushions, that make watch wearing even more comfortable. There's the movement with manual rewinding and the 3-dimensional moon phase indicator under the case. You can see the 6-day power reserve, executed in the form of a white and a red rounds on the watch's case back.
The model's innovative essence becomes more obvious if you take a closer look at its rotor's revolutionary design. Part of the movement is a regulating element without a visible balance spring. Its action shows in vibration. The outer part of the rotor is made of platinum, the central is made of silicone. Its unusual mirror surface, surrounded by conical and polished axles, radiates a powerful charge of eternal movement.
De Bethune watches have become the company's motto's approval: they are original, they combine beauty and high quality. These fantastic watches embody the time-tested traditional watchmaking art values and the new age changes.
