Charles-Auguste Paillard is a Swiss watch company, named after the founder. Charles-Auguste Pillard was born in 1840 in the Swiss village Sainte-Croix. As a youth he went to his uncle in Brazil, where he was engaged in service and repair of marine chronographs. Pillard began to study the influence of marine climate and humidity on instruments. Later Pillard moved to Geneva, where he continued his research. He successfully applied his knowledge and experience in the field of changes the properties of metals depending on the climate and temperature in watch making. Based on the writings of the English scientist Hourie, who lived in Le Locle and the results of their experiments and research, Pillard introduced a non-oxidizing antimagnetic spiral for the balance of palladium in 1877.
This discovery made Pillard famous. And in 1888 he founded the company «Geneva Anti Magnetic Watch Co SA». In the same year the company, led by Pillard, got the prize for the best chronometer.
In 1893 at an exhibition in Chicago he presented a watch with minute repeater, perpetual calendar and chronograph function with “fly back". Currently, the production of the watch company Charles - Auguste Paillard and its own workshops, equipped with modern facilities, located in the Swiss town of Grenchen.
As a basis for the mechanisms of watches Charlese-Auguste Paillard used caliber ETA, which is complicated by the different functions: power reserve indicator, perpetual calendar, GMT. The processing and testing of the movement is carried out in own workshops.
